With a passion for web standards, semantics and best practices, I have been lovingly hand crafting websites since 1998. Using PHP as my technology of choice I have developed everything from simple sites to complex solutions, feed parsers / generators, CMS platforms and more; as well as extending existing solutions and advising on technologies to use. Although I am mainly a back-end developer I have strong front-end skills and have an interest in responsive / mobile design; usability, accessibility and user experience; and shiny things like jQuery and AJAX.

Web Development Skills:

Further Areas of Interest:

Test Driven Design (TDD), Performance Testing, Split Testing, Progressive Enhancement / Graceful Degradation, on-page SEO, higher level project management, ASP.NET (C#), mobile app development (iOS and Android), Joomla; Drupal and other CMS platforms, social media API integrations, graphing, ZEND framework, Bootstrap.

Employment History:

2013Freelance: languatics.com

I was commissioned to implement a CMS for the design of the languatics.com website. My choice of CMS for this was SilverStripe as this provided a strong base to expand on for rapid development whilst also providing a simple to understand and use interface for the clients future updates.

2007 - currentSenior Web Developer - West63rd Ltd

My tasks within West63rd are varied, from taking a simple design and turning it into a website (straight PHP sites and CMS driven) to developing complex systems for clients to manage orders, schedules, staff, certificates and invoices etc. and everything in-between. I am also the lead feed developer dealing with feeds and APIs from companies such as Expert Agent, Rightmove, LaPAMS, Vebra / Vebra Live, Jupix, ReapIt and Alcium. I am involved in meetings both with clients and internally to discuss technology stacks and determine what functionality is required for projects.

2002 - 2007Web Developer - UKPhoneShop.com Ltd

My main roles were to maintain, update and enhance the existing website (code, design, usability and user experience) both to set plans and of my own initiative. I was also the affiliate manager; leading the affiliate program, expanding their toolset and supporting new and existing affiliates.
